You can get the moon with no presses of any at all by doing this and collecting the moon with a well timed up throw (boosts mario up a bit) while walking up the story moon slope

pretty sure this got patched in 3.0.0, so you need to do black hole method or pipe-lock method

The reason why the vertical sub area one gets janky is because after the glitch the game thinks you are in a horizontal sub area, so it doesn’t bother updating the frames outside of the regular horizontal level area (in this situation 2 screens vertically) so the display above that area does not get updated, which makes it smooshed up. Like drawing an animation without erasing the last frame
